My great-grandfather was the Chief Rabbi of Haifa and wrote and translated many books. One of his works is the tractate Ketubot. At the beginning of the process, I thought of searching his tractate “Ketubot” for anything that might help my case. I even brought the tractate to one of my rabbinical court hearings. Maybe if they knew I was a descendant of a municipal chief rabbi and clerical judge, they would start treating me with more respect. Of course, it was all in my head.
